Redlands, Beaumont men accused of coin-counter theft

Two men were arrested after money was stolen from two Coinstar counting machines in the Coachella Valley, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

Shawn Stewart, 35, of Redlands, and Christopher Henry, 43, of Beaumont, were booked on suspicion of burglary, grand theft and conspiracy, a news release said.

One theft happened on Dec. 22 in the city of Coachella. During the investigation, the suspects were identified, and it was discovered that a second burglary occurred on an unannounced date in the 82100 block of Highway 111 in Indio.

On March 24, search warrants were served in San Jacinto and Beaumont, resulting in the arrests. Coins, packaging, a coin counter and Coinstar property was found, the release said.
