COVID-19: India’s Coronavirus Recovery Rate Further Improves To 35.08%

NEW DELHI: Health and Family Welfare Ministry today said that a total 30 thousand 153 patients have cured of the Coronavirus and the recovery rate reached to 35.08 per cent in the country.

India’s recovery rate from the virus is the best in the world.

With 3,970 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, India’s tally on Saturday surpassed China’s official tally of 82,933 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the contagious coronavirus has affected 85,940 and claimed the lives of 2,752 in India so far.

During the last 24 hours, 2,233 patients have recovered and 3,970 fresh cases of COVID-19 have been reported taking the total number of cases to 85,940.

103 deaths have been registered during the last 24 hours taking India’s toll to 2,752.

Maharashtra, which is the worst affected state in India, has reported more than 29,000 coronavirus cases and over 1,000 fatalities while Gujarat has reported almost 10,000 confirmed cases and over 600 deaths.

Madhya Pradesh has reported over 4,500 coronavirus cases and 239 deaths while the national capital Delhi has reported almost 9,000 cases and over 120 casualties.

On Friday (May 15), Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan chaired a Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting and stressed that the focus of COVID-19 management strategy needs to be on the states with the highest number of confirmed cases and fatalities.

Also, he said, focus is needed on treatment and case fatality management, for which timely detection and contact tracing were the best way forward.
