Four JeM Associates Arrested In Jammu-Kashmir’s Pulwama

PULWAMA (Jammu and Kashmir): The Jammu Kashmir police arrested four terrorist associates linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in Pulwama district yesterday.

A police spokesman said the arrested persons were involved in providing shelter, logistics and other kinds of support to the “active terrorists of JeM” operating in the areas of Khrew and forest areas of Tral.

They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Parray, Sheeraz Ahmad Dar, Shafat Ahmad Mir and Ishfaq Ahmad Shah — all residents of Bathen area of Khrew in Awantipora Pulwama.

The spokesman addedIncriminating material, including explosives and ammunition, has been recovered on their disclosure in Bathen area.

The success comes a couple of weeks after security forces eliminated two terrorists and their associate in an encounter in Goripora area of Awantipora on April 25. The combing operation became an encounter after the militants opened fire at security forces.

Apart from these reverses, the elimination of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo last week has caused in a reduction of the influence of the terrorist organisation in the Valley has been reduced considerably.

Inspector-General of Police of Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar had on Thursday said that Naikoo’s killing will significantly bring down the large number of Kashmiri youths taking up arms.
