Introduction to the Public Health Management of Chemical Incident Response and the Role of Poison Centres

This webinar will provide an overview of how chemical incidents are managed from a public health perspective including risk assessment, management options, communication and surveillance. Presentations will cover different aspects of the process and include an interactive exercise. The role of poison centres in detection and response to chemical incidents will be discussed. Reference will be made to the WHO Guidelines for establishing a poison centre (in press). The webinar is organized by Public Health England in collaboration with the University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch and the Swiss Centre for Applied Human Toxicology.
