Brands make a debut on Instagram Reels

Welcome to the opening night of branded Instagram Reels, today’s show will feature brands that have made the most of this old but new format within a day of its launch.

The introduction of Instagram Reels in India also meant a new format that brands could tap into on the platform, or revive their efforts that were previously directed on TikTok.

The short-video format has now been leveraged by brands, and other entities to engage with the audience in a new way, put out multi-segmented videos, make announcements, and make the most of music.

Dominant brands that kicked-off the use of Reels are from the entertainment industry, such as production houses, music labels, TV channels, along with publishers.

Despite the criticism for duplication, Reels is being widely consumed within a day of its launch, with the format gaining substantial engagement on posts from brands that have an equalized following.

This could mean we see more brands tapping this format, introducing challenges, branded lenses, and also initiating user-generated content. Particularly, Reels holds potential for production houses, studios, fashion brands, and publishers.
