COVID-19: Amid Rising Cases, UP Govt To Increase Beds ‘Immediately’ In Lucknow

LUCKNOW (Uttar Pradesh): The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to increase COVID beds immediately in Lucknow in the wake of the spike in Coronavirus cases.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stressed for better coordination between health and medical education department and asked to connect all COVID-related services and activities to the integrated command and control centre.

The State Capital Lucknow is witnessing a surge in the cases of COVID infection. With the growing number of COVID patients district administration has decided to impose restrictions in 4 police circles in the city.

In a special meeting focused on the scenario of COVID infection in state capital Lucknow last night, CM Yogi took stock of the latest situation and gave directions to the senior administration officials and directors of Premier health institutes in the city to develop a standard operating procedure SOP for the treatment of patients.

To stop the spread of infection in Lucknow, the CM has asked officials to ensure contact-tracing of the patients. He also instructed the chief secretary to appoint DG health in the state.

With 392 new cases in the last 24 hours, the number of active COVID patients in Lucknow has reached 2509 which is highest in the state. 47 persons have lost their life in Lucknow till date due to chronic infection.

Restrictions are imposed in Four localities of the city starting from 5 AM this morning and these areas would remain under restrictions up to 10 pm on July 24.

The administration has taken over several hotels in the city to provide better facilities and health services to the asymptomatic patients who will have to pay a fixed amount for treatment and stay.
