Breath Of The Wild Glitch Causes Player To Burn In Water
A Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player has found an odd glitch that involves Link catching on fire after diving into water. Like most games, BOTW is home to a fair few bugs; in fact, one user recently discovered a glitched horse who galloped in circles while submerged underground. A memory storage error unearthed earlier this year resulted in Link's inadvertent ability to earn double the amount of items like korok seeds and spirit orbs.
Interestingly, not all of Breath of the Wild's glitches were left in the final build by accident, though. Popular YouTube channel DidYouKnowGaming, designers purposefully overlooked some gameplay hiccups during production at the behest of Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi. According to the YouTuber, Fujibayashi's instructions came during playtesting as some bugs were seen to actually benefit the player. Combining the abilities like Stasis and Magnesis, for instance, lets users fly across the BOTW map with relative ease. There are a number of gameplay errors that fans wouldn't be too pleased about randomly stumbling across, however.
YouTube channel Le monde d'Yvain posted a video over the weekend that showcases yet another odd glitch in Breath of the Wild. The bug in question sees Link dive into the water and spontaneously catch on fire within just a few short seconds. It's not some bizarre fire effect that plays out, either. The water burns at the character over a brief period of time, with flames and smoke engulfing his body. Fortunately, the player manages to dive deeper into the body of water and put the out before it causes too much damage.
As far as unexpected bugs go, this definitely counts as one of the non-fun ones. The YouTuber doesn't seem sure about what may cause the issue or how it could be avoided in its entirety. Perhaps this should be logged as another of Breath of the Wild's many intriguing mysteries?
The world of BOTW will offer up plenty more mysteries once its sequel launches in 2022. Nintendo formally unveiled Breath of the Wild 2 during its E3 2021 presentation. And, to the dismay of many a fan, little else about the project has surfaced in the months since then.
