Call of Duty: Vanguard Is Getting Visibility And Audio Changes Following Beta Feedback
The first weekend of the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta has wrapped up, and Sledgehammer Games has been given plenty of feedback about the game. Fortunately, it seems like some of the biggest complaints about Call of Duty: Vanguard will be addressed soon.
There were certainly things in the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta that were deserving of criticism. Some come down to the overall experience being slower than fans would like, while other players called out guns they saw as too weak or too powerful. Less subjective were the spawns in the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta, as they were entirely broken in the new Patrol game mode. Fortunately, Sledgehammer Games was quick to release a patch for the issue, though hopefully they will be refined further before the next beta weekend begins.
Outside of spawns, audio and visibility became two big Call of Duty: Vanguard beta issues. In the case of audio, many found the mixing to be odd, as parts of the game are extremely loud while others are nearly silent. For instance, Footsteps were almost impossible to hear, which is a big deal since many players use sound to their advantage. As for visibility, players are having trouble identifying enemy players, with map elements like rain and snow only adding to the difficulty. Sledgehammer has confirmed that fans have been heard, however.
Sledgehammer has promised info on the changes sometime this week, which bodes well for the second beta weekend. While it is possible that the changes take longer and are not ready until the full game launches, it seems likely that PC and Xbox players trying the open beta this weekend will get a smoother experience. Overall, Sledgehammer’s quick changes to Call of Duty: Vanguard are a good sign for the game, as it seems like the developer will be quick to fix the things that the community dislikes.
Still, it will be interesting to see how the visibility problem in particular will be addressed. While weather adjustments will help, the Operators present a bigger problem. Call of Duty: Vanguard lacks teams like recent games in the series, with all Operators available to those on both sides of the fight. As such, it can be hard to distinguish friendly versions of characters like Polina Petrova from those that are on the opposing team. While Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was able to add red lights to enemy specialists, the old outfits in a World War 2 game make that same approach impossible.
It will be worth keeping an eye on the changes Sledgehammer Games makes for the second beta weekend and the full game. Whatever they are, hopefully the adjustments eliminate the audio and visual problems that fans are having.
Call of Duty: Vanguard launches November 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
