Life is Strange: True Colors - How to Romance Ryan Guide

Ryan is Gabe's best friend and becomes one of Alex's closest friends in Life is Strange: True Colors. He's also a potential romantic interest, and players need to make the correct decisions to ensure they don't spoil their chance to be with him.

There are two major decisions that will decide if players will romance either Steph or Ryan in Life is Strange: True Colors, but there are also optional choices that can expand the build-up to the romance. These cute exchanges won't change anything, but they do make Alex and Ryan's relationship appear more organic and should put a smile on any fan's face.

How to Romance Ryan in Life is Strange: True Colors

Required Choices to Romance Ryan

There are two important decisions in Life is Strange: True Colors that players must make to ensure they enter a romance with Ryan: give him a rose at the Haven Spring Festival, and kiss him on top of the rooftop at the Haven Spring Festival.

Both of these decisions are made during Chapter 4 of Life is Strange: True Colors. While exploring the festival after talking with Steph and Ryan, head over to the cart with the gold roses, and then back to Ryan. There will now be a 'Rose' prompt, and this will trigger a scene between the two. Ryan will then say he wants to meet Alex on the rooftop later.

Continue enjoying the festival activities, like helping the man guess how many jelly beans there are for a missable Trophy/Achievement. Ryan will invite Alex to the rooftop after she has a scene with Charlotte by the lake. He will try and convince Alex why she should make Haven her home, which will lead to a choice to hug Ryan or kiss him. Kiss him if players want to enter a romance.

Optional Ryan Romance Choices

These are optional dialogue choices and decisions that unlock extra Ryan romance scenes. They are small interactions, and won't change anything major, except for one decision in Chapter 5. Make sure to check Alex's phone to see texts and MyBlock messages that could involve Ryan and Alex.

  • (Chapter 1) While helping Ryan look for Valkyrie's toy in the record store, make sure to interact with every option before the junk box. This creates additional dialogue between the two before moving the story along.
  • (Chapter 2) After helping Ryan overcome his anger on the cliff, hug him instead of giving him a handshake.
  • (Chapter 3) When given the option to choose Steph or Ryan as the distraction, go with Ryan.
  • (Chapter 3) At the start of the LARP after defeating Ryan as a direwolf, choose the 'annoy' prompt and then listen to his thoughts.
  • (Chapter 3) During the LARP, call Ryan cute when he is dressed in the snake hat.
  • (Chapter 3) During the LARP, ask Ryan to say something nice about Ethan and Alex when he is dressed in the troll costume.
  • (Chapter 4) Use Alex's powers in Life is Strange: True Colors to read Ryan's feelings after giving him the rose.
  • (Chapter 5) If Ryan didn't side with Alex during the council meeting, read his text messages before heading to the rooftop.
  • (Chapter 5) Forgive Ryan if he didn't stand with Alex during the meeting to end the game in a relationship with him.
  • (Chapter 5) Stay in Haven or seek adventure with Ryan if Alex forgives him or Ryan stood with her in the meeting.

Life is Strange: True Colors is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and will release later for Switch.
