Possible iPhone 14 Leaks Online
Apple has released so many iPhones that it is now up to its numerical 12th version. Now, just a couple days away from Apple's September showcase, renders for a rumored iPhone 14 have appeared, sparking questions about just what this year's iPhone will look like.
It has become an expectation that around this time every year, Apple reveals its latest and greatest iPhone. Apple California announced its streaming event for next week, setting the ball in motion for the newest iPhone iteration. As far as naming conventions go, the iPhone had been increasing numerically until 2017 when the iPhone X launched, skipping an iPhone 9. The expected announcement for this upcoming Apple event is the iPhone 13.
But recently, Jon Prosser from Front Page Tech revealed renders of the iPhone 14. The high-quality renders were created by Ian Zelbo based on leaked images and schematics Prosser received, providing an image of what the device may actually look like. Taking inspiration from the iPhone 12, the renders portray the 14 with non-rounded, squared edges, maintaining the big design distinction that occurred from the 11 to the 12. That is where the similarities end though, as the 14 looks to drastically redefine the look of the iPhone.
In the renders for the iPhone 14, the days of the notch on the phone's face are over. As phones like the Google Pixel have already done, the iPhone 14's front-facing camera floats in the top center of its edge-to-edge display. The other change is subtle design-wise, but is drastic in terms of form and function: the main cameras are no longer protruding off the back of the phone, but built into the glass backing. Renders of the phone can be found in colors similar to those of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, including silver, graphite, rose gold, and pacific blue.
As mentioned, this development comes days before the official Apple showcase, presenting some confusion about just what this item could be. On one hand, it could be an iPhone X scenario, with Apple skipping the 13 and releasing the 14 this year, like it did with the iPhone 9. While on the other hand, this could actually be images of next year's iPhone iteration, and not what will be announced next week. Fortunately, whether it is the iPhone 13 or indeed the 14, the wait for Apple's next iPhone is not very far away.
