Galactus & Ultron Formed Marvel's Ultimate Villain In Thanos Team-Up

In a Marvel Universe where Galactus has fallen, the Silver Surfer took the leftover parts of the Devourer of Worlds and the villain Ultron to make the ultimate villain. If that wasn't enough, in his final battle against the Unnamable, 'Red' Surfer called on Thanos and Annihilus to be his Heralds. Marvel's ultimate battle was teased in a short story nearly two decades ago that's begging for a follow-up.

In 2001, Marvel Comics gave some of their most talented writers and artists the chance to reinvent iconic heroes and villains in a series of single-page stories in an anthology titled Marvel Universe: Millennial Visions #1. Stories featured in the collection include a 60-year-old Iron Man coming out of retirement to fight Shogun,  Thor searching for Odin in the afterlife, and a wildly different Avengers team facing off against a new villain, the Dark Ones - who have wiped out the Skrulls. However, the most exciting and frankly insane story from the anthology was a short comic showcasing Ultron and Galactus becoming one under a new kind of Silver Surfer.

In the Galactus "Dawn of the Heralds" story from Jorge Lucas, the Marvel Universe is reeling after the loss of Galactus as an even more dangerous threat has taken his place. The "demonic" Unnamable is essentially Galactus, but devourers planets for his own pleasure, leaving nothing but dust after he feasts. With the Marvel Universe's greatest heroes killed in battles against the Unnamable, the Silver Surfer rebuilds Galactus with the parts of Ultron - with an assist from the Shi-Ar.  However, when he attacks the Unnamable with Galactus-Ultron, he's almost killed using all his cosmic energy, aging like a star and becoming the Red Surfer (like a Red Dwarf star). Realizing he needs further help, the Red Surfer makes an unlikely call to two of his biggest foes: Thanos and Annihilus.

Thanos and Annihilus agree to become the Red Surfers heralds. The story ends with a tease of the fight for the Marvel Universe between the Red Surfer, Galactus-Ultron, Thanos, and Annihilus against the Unnamable.

While the story doesn't fill in the gaps between why Thanos and Annihilus agreed to help the Surfer in his most dire time, it would be incredible to see the villains team up with him and Ultron-Galactus to try to kill the planet-ending threat. Galactus-Ultron looks menacing, as he's basically Galactus with Ultron's face. It's terrifying to think what he might be capable of - as he might have the Power Cosmic and Ultron's intellect. While the story is pretty out there, it would be fun to see Marvel finish it and show the battle for the Marvel Universe. At the very least, they should bring back Galactus-Ultron and show his full powers in effect.
