GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition May Release a Bit Later Than Expected

A new report claims the GTA Trilogy remaster will receive a boxed release this holiday season for last-gen consoles, though the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions may not launch until next year. This contradicts leaked details from reliable industry insider Tom Henderson, who recently claimed GTA's Definitive Edition would hit stores in November.
Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive officially announced GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition late last week, following months of nonstop rumors and leaks. The collection will pack in three classic Grand Theft Auto adventures that originally released throughout the PS2 era, including GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. Details about the remasters themselves remain scant for the time being, but Rockstar has confirmed that improved graphics and enhanced gameplay will rest at the core of the experiences.
Reportedly, Polish outlet PPE (via VGC) learned from retailer sources that physical editions of GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will launch in December. This release window, apparently, applies to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One versions only, however. The sources claimed the remaster's PS5 and Xbox Series X|S iterations won't roll out until sometime in 2022. Because the rumored information makes no mention of the digital versions, it's still possible both last-gen and current-gen hardware will receive the collection in some form by this year's end.

As is always the case, the above information should be taken with a grain of salt. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has so much as hinted at a firm due date for GTA's highly-anticipated Definitive Edition. But official news about release plans should surface in sometime soon, given that 2021 is quickly coming to an end.
The public remains in the dark about a whole host of other details, too. Notably, the price of the package continues to elude those eager to learn more. UK retailer base.com may have let the cat out of the bag, though, if listings on its storefront are to be believed. According to said listings, GTA Trilogy costs $70 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One iterations, on the other hand, may only run customers $60.
GTA Trilogy hits Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms sometime this year; Android and iOS releases are slated for the first half of 2022.
