Rocket League Adding New James Bond 007 Car
Back in July, there was a Rocket League/James Bond crossover, which saw developer Psyonix add the classic Aston Martin DB5 seen in several Bond movies. It was only available for a limited time but, only three months later, Psyonix is holding a second James Bond crossover in only a few days.
This time, Rocket League will be receiving the Aston Martin Valhalla supercar. Boasting a mid-engined 950PS gasoline/battery electric powertrain, this makes it the first hybrid vehicle to be added to the game.
It will also come with its own cosmetics, namely a Reel Life Decal, a unique Engine Audio, and its own set of wheels. These can be acquired for 1100 credits in total, but Psyonix stresses that this bundle can only be equipped to the Aston Martin Valhalla. Plus, not every cosmetic in the game is compatible with the car.
There’s more to the crossover than just the car. Three in-game challenges can be attempted and each one gives out a 007 themed reward. These rewards are the Aston Martin DB5 Player Banner, the Agent 007 Avatar Border, and the "00 Agent" Player Title.
For anyone who may have missed out on the last James Bond crossover or simply wasn’t able to unlock the Aston Martin DB5, Psyonix confirms that it will be added back as well. It will be part of a Bond 007 Collection that can be purchased for 2000 credits and comes with both Bond cars and their related cosmetics. This collection will only be available from October 7 to October 13. So players can’t afford to rest on their laurels, since there is no guarantee the cars will be brought back in the future.
Lastly, a special Agents vs. Villains event will be taking place on Psyonix’s Twitch channel. It hasn’t shared many details about this one, except that it will feature Rocket League community members and personalities.
Even though Psyonix never directly mentions it, this crossover is obviously to tie in with the newly released James Bond movie, No Time to Die. Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (who also directed the 2017 adaptation of Stephen King’s It) and with Daniel Craig reprising his role as Bond, the movie sees Bond come out of retirement to assist the CIA and face off against Rami Malek’s Lyutsifer Safin.
The movie is already a critical and box office success and is notable for being the final James Bond movie to star Craig. It’s currently unknown who will take over the role for the foreseeable future.
Rocket League is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
