RHOBH: Production Shuts Down as Housewives Test Positive for COVID-19

Fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will be sad to learn that production for season 12 has paused due to numerous cast members testing positive for COVID-19. RHOBH’s twelfth season began filming in October of this year, with Erika Jayne, Lisa Rinna, Garcelle Beauvais, Dorit Kemsley, Crystal Chung Minkoff, Sutton Stracke and Kyle Richards all returning to the series. Season 12 appears to be a direct continuation of the events of season 11, which ended on a dramatic note.
Many fans of RHOBH are eager to keep watching the drama unfurl around the housewives after watching the explosive RHOBH reunion that aired in November. Since all the housewives will be returning, there is a lot of speculation about what the next season will include. Fans assume RHOBH season 12 will follow Erika's divorce, as well as the accusations of her awareness of her husband’s business practices. Speculation also includes Dorit's home invasion and robbery that occurred in October, as well as the recent death of Lisa's mother.
A source reported to People that Garcelle, Lisa and Erika tested positive for COVID-19. The new cases and chances of others developing while on set have caused a pause in RHOBH season 12's production. “The girls who are sick are trying to take care of themselves. The other cast members are nervous now that they might have it. [RHOBH] production is taking every precaution to keep people safe," the source reported. The cast made a public appearance earlier this month when the series was nominated for Reality Show of 2021 at the People’s Choice Awards, losing to Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The source confirmed the vaccination status of the housewives, saying, "All of the ladies are vaccinated. They're fine and will be fine because of it.”

Sadly, this is the second time the RHOBH cast has pressed pause on production. Last fall, Dorit, Kyle and recurring housewife Kathy Hilton were diagnosed with COVID-19, causing RHOBH season 11 production to halt. Discussing her upcoming time co-hosting The Real, Garcelle shared her recent diagnosis to her followers in a video posted to Instagram on Monday. Garcelle said, "I found out that I tested positive for COVID. I feel okay. I'm sure I will continue to feel okay. My boys are being tested. So far, they've tested negative. We're going to continue testing them." She confirmed during the update that she is luckily not experiencing some of the more difficult symptoms of the virus.
Within the world of reality television, it’s natural for many stars to experience challenges that those watching at home can relate to and understand. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a noticeable impact in how the virus has affected the Real Housewives stars' careers, families and entire lives. After all, the virus doesn’t care whether or not cameras are rolling, as can be seen with the three housewives testing positive. With time away from the set and the pause on production, hopefully the housewives can properly heal, and the further spread of the virus can be prevented. While the effects of COVID-19 seem to be far from over, current events will likely be a topic of conversation for the housewives once production continues and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12 airs.
