The Voice: Ariana Grande Mysteriously Deletes Twitter Account

Ariana Grande had a Christmas Eve surprise in store that sent fans searching for answers when The Voice coach spontaneously deleted her Twitter account. Ariana joined the social media platform in 2009, and since then, she has been using it to interact with fans and update them on her life and career. The singer is still active on Instagram, where she recently posted a photo dump of selfies and behind-the-scenes pictures from the set of the Netflix film Don't Look Up. She also shared a photo of her car stereo playing "One Short Day" from the original cast recording of Wicked. Ariana is set to star in the live-action film as Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.

In November, Ariana's The Voice team member Ryleigh Plank revealed that the coach had deleted the Twitter app from her phone out of caution. Some of Ariana's fans were bombarding the contestant with threatening e-mails, and as a mental health advocate, the singer wanted to keep Ryleigh safe from the social media world. Though Ariana's season of The Voice has come to a close, the star still stays in contact with her contestants. She even invited some team members to her home for Thanksgiving and continues to treat them as family.

Since Friday, Ariana's fans have been scrambling to understand why Ariana has unexpectedly disappeared from Twitter. According to People, Ariana went missing from Twitter on Friday afternoon, and fans immediately started spawning theories as to where the star went. She continued posting on Instagram but has not given any reason as to why she left Twitter. Users tried searching for her on the platform but instead were met with an empty profile and the message, "This account doesn't exist."

Ariana would not be the first celebrity to leave the platform. Back in 2009, Miley Cyrus made headlines when she deleted her Twitter account due to the toxicity of the platform. The star even posted a rap called "Goodbye Twitter" on YouTube explaining why she chose to leave the platform. Fans were concerned about Ariana's abrupt exit; user @Intltcl tweeted, "I hope you're doing well Ariana I'm just so worried about you:( @ArianaGrande." However, there has also been speculation that the singer may be preparing for a big announcement. Leaving social media or wiping profiles clean before a big announcement has become a trend amongst celebrities since Taylor Swift's big social media wipeout in 2017 before the release of her sixth studio album, reputation.

While fans are concerned about Ariana leaving Twitter without a warning, the star seems to be just fine as she continues to stay connected via Instagram. While it's likely her exit is connected to prioritizing her mental health, she also may have some big news in store for fans. As she prepares for her role as Glinda, promotes her new makeup line and entertains fans in Adam McKay's recently released Netflix film, the star has a lot on her plate. Perhaps she has another surprise in store for her dedicated Arianators. Either way, The Voice coach's fans proved once again how much they love and care about their idol.
