Cobra Kai Season 5 Is Even Better Than Season 4 Says Star

Caution: This article may contain spoilers for Cobra Kai season 4

Actor Thomas Ian Griffith says that Cobra Kai season 5 is even better than season 4. Griffith plays Terry Silver in Cobra Kai season 4, a former friend and partner to John Kreese (Martin Kove), who first appeared in The Karate Kid: Part III as the main villain who brainwashes Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). LaRusso is eventually saved by Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuka Pat Morita) and trained to defeat Silver's other student, Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) at the All-Valley Karate Tournament, sending Silver away in shame.

Griffith's Silver is now back in the world of The Karate Kid, making his return in Cobra Kai season 4 after being called up by Kreese to help defeat former student Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and LaRusso in the All-Valley Karate Tournament, pitting Miyagi-Do, Eagle Fang, and Cobra Kai all against one another. Griffith has been out of the acting world for over a decade and is making his return with Cobra Kai in a substantial role for season 4 that will see him providing a whole new level of rivalry amongst the karate kids of the valley, including the grown up ones of LaRusso and Lawrence.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Griffith talks about his return to the role of Terry Silver, as well as what to expect going forward. After the events of Cobra Kai season 4, which leave Silver still very much on the karate chessboard, it's hard to imagine what will happen in season 5. However, Griffith is enthusiastic about where the show goes next, saying that while it was incredible, Cobra Kai season 5 will go "next level." Here's his full quote:

All I could say is, I thought season 4 was just so incredible. The emotional arcs and the physicality and the action, and it's like, "How are we going to top that?" And they did in 5; they take it to the next level again. I can't wait for everybody to see it.

Griffith made an early attempt to be an action star in the 90s, starring in a string of lower-budget films like Ulterior Motives, Excessive Force, and Hollow Point. He would later star as the lead vampire villain in John Carpenter's Vampires in 1998. From there, Griffith starred in a number of film and TV roles, including xXx, TimeCop 2 with Jason Scott Lee, and a recurring role on One Tree Hill, before retiring from acting. Now, Griffith is back to the role that launched his career in Cobra Kai.

Having Terry Silver back in Cobra Kai is great, because as evil as Kreese may be, Silver is that much more evil. Kreese, for all his faults, shows mercy even when he preaches to have none, while Silver not only has no mercy or morals. This provides a tremendous conflict between the two friends and makes it that much more challenging for Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, as they're dealing with someone that doesn't play by any rules at all, forcing them to find new ways to defeat Cobra Kai. To have Silver return for Cobra Kai season 5 is icing on the cake for fans of the series, as his presence (along with anyone else he may pull from the franchise to join him) makes for a great villain dynamic.
