A Pokémon Legends: Arceus event is coming to Tetris 99, which will give players a chance to earn a new theme, with its own associated music that comes from the game. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is one of the biggest games of January 2022, and is one of the few big Nintendo exclusives of 2022 that have a solid release date at the time of this writing.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a major departure from the format of the mainline Pokémon games. It's set in the distant past of the Sinnoh region, during a time when it was called the Hisui region. The land is untamed, with wild Pokémon roaming the fields unchecked. The player joins the Galaxy Expedition Team, in order to explore Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Hisui region and help colonize it. The game combines elements of the Monster Hunter series and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with the Pokémon formula, with the player exploring the wild frontier on their journey and coming up against giant, monstrous Pokémon that they will have to battle.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set to launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch on January 28. To celebrate the occasion, there will be a Pokémon Legends: Arceus event in Tetris 99. According to Serebii, the event will run from January 21-25, 2022. The Pokémon Legends: Arceus event will feature a new theme based on the game, which comes with its own associated music. As has been the case with previous Tetris 99 events, the player will need to unlock this theme in battle.
For the duration of the event, the player will earn points by competing in Tetris 99 matches. The higher the player places in any given match, the more points they will earn. If the player earns one hundred points during the event, then they will unlock the theme and get to keep it once the event ends. The fact that players still win a few points, even when coming in last place, means that the theme can be won through a battle of attrition, assuming the player has the free time to dedicate to the game during the event.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus isn't the first Pokémon game to appear in Tetris 99. Nintendo regularly ties Tetris 99 events to upcoming games, as was the case when The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD had an event last year. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will likely be one of the biggest Switch games of the year and Tetris 99 fans will have a chance to earn a piece of it during the upcoming event.
The Pokémon Legends: Arceus event in Tetris 99 will run from January 21-25, 2022.
