Star Wars Comic Characters That Should Appear In Live-Action
Star Wars is filled with numerous characters spanning the franchise's many comic book tie-ins. While most of these characters are unlikely to be featured prominently live-action, there is always the possibility they may be featured in some way in any one of Star Wars' upcoming TV shows and movies, such as Black Krrsantan's debut in The Book of Boba Fett.
With Krrsantan's live-action appearance, there has been renewed speculation by fans wondering what other comic book characters may be featured in live-action in the future. Given the number of Star Wars TV series in development and the dozens of Star Wars characters to choose from, there are an endless amount of possibilities for print characters to finally appear in person.
As fans are aware, there are thousands of clone troopers present throughout the Star Wars universe, seen mostly as disposable characters whose mission is to fight and die. However, there are a few memorable clone troopers in print that could do well by appearing in live-action, such as the ARC trooper, Alpha-17.
A battle-hardened trooper, Alpha is the absolute toughest of the tough, who's fought in numerous battles and endured more than a few close-calls along the way. Personally tortured by Asaaj Ventress and nearly killed in battle by General Grievous, he's a character that—like Rex—has seen it all and done it all.
In a split second easter egg on The Mandalorian, the original owner of Boba Fett's iconic armor--Jaster Mereel--was very briefly mentioned. Now that fans know Mereel's role in Star Wars is canon, however, there is a very real possibility that he might appear in live-action at some point in the future.
In the Star Wars universe, Mereel was a Mandalorian leader who served as a mentor and father figure of Jango Fett, rescuing and training the young Fett in the ways of the Mandalorians. A political opponent to the Death Watch, he was eventually killed by Pre Viszla, with Fett dawning his armor in tribute.
As fans well know, there is no shortage of bounty hunters in the franchise's universe, spanning the Clones Wars' Jango Fett to the Galactic Civil War's Boba Fett, Bossk, and Dengar, among others. Beebox is a bounty hunter that falls into the latter category, operating during the height of the Empire and usually employed alongside Fett under contract for the Imperials or Jabba.
Despite his Cyberpunk-sounding name, Beebox is a talented professional who has found employment at the personal hands of Darth Vader. Unfortunately, he would meet his end at Vader's hands when he tried to trick the Dark Lord into believing that he had killed Doctor Aphra. Despite his demise, however, there's always a possibility fans might see the bounty hunter again in some capacity, in between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
Similar to the many clone troopers of the Star Wars franchise, stormtroopers are considered generally unmemorable antagonists, with no single stormtrooper standing out in the course of the original trilogy. In the comics, however, there are more than a few troopers that serve pivotal roles in the Star Wars series, including the SCAR trooper, Sgt. Kreel.
Originally an undercover agent for the Empire who served directly under Darth Vader, Kreel's espionage and combat skills soon earned him a distinguished place as the leader of the Imperial Task Force 99, an elite special forces group that succeeded the "Bad Batch." Interestingly, Kreel is so far one of the stormtroopers to wield a lightsaber in combat, using it as a primary weapon in battle.
Durge was a mysterious bounty hunter character hired by Count Dooku to support his forces in the original 2-D Clone Wars series in the early 2000s'. Memorably, as a commander for the Separatist army, he led a group of IG droids on speeders to drive off the Republic Army.
Not much is known about Durge aside from his brief non-canonical appearance in the Clone Wars series, although an altered version of the character would appear in Marvel's Doctor Aphra. (Even Durge's species remains mysterious.) Given his incorporation into Doctor Aphra, long-time fans of the character may eventually hopefully see his appearance in live-action someday as well.
There are a few characters who have been quite so well established in the Star Wars comic medium as well as Doctor Aphra. A renowned yet criminal archeologist, she's a more trickster version of Indiana Jones in the Star Wars universe.
Originally introduced in Marvel's Darth Vader series, Aphra's popularity guaranteed her a starring role in her comic series, following her adventures collecting numerous artifacts in space. One of the more well-known characters to join the Star Wars franchise, it'd be interesting to see her appear in live-action, perhaps alongside her former companion, Black Krrsantan, or even with her old employer, Darth Vader, who Aphra eventually betrayed.
Since his debut in Marvel's Darth Vader series, Triple Zero immediately delighted readers as a complete inversion of the protocol droid they've come to know. Triple Zero is a sadistic yet witty protocol droid that specializes in interrogation, happy to torture anyone he's been asked to.
Like Doctor Aphra, Triple Zero's popularity helped the character transition into Aphra's comic series, frequently appearing alongside his counterpart, Beetee, as sort of a twisted, evil version of C3PO and R2-D2.
Like his frequent companion, Triple Zero, BT-1 is an Imperial droid that specializes in torture and assassination, appearing almost like a more sinister, weaponized version of R2-D2.
Along with his fellow companions, Triple-Zero and Black Krrsantan, BT-1's unique presence in Marvel's Darth Vader helped the character appear in future Star Wars comic books, specifically Doctor Aphra's series. The off-kilter chemistry he shares with Aphra—frequently trying to get her killed or leaving her for dead with Triple Zero—makes him for an interesting character dynamic between the three that fans would no doubt enjoy seeing in live-action.
Before Ahsoka Tano, before Rex, before even Starkiller, there was Mara Jade, one of the first and definitively most popular Star Wars characters that appeared exclusively in print.
Originally the Force-trained personal assassin of Palpatine sent to kill Luke Skywalker, Jade eventually fell in love with the young Jedi, going on to be a mother and powerful Jedi in her own right. One of the most well-known characters in Star Wars' extended universe, fans have long waited to see Jade make her live-action debut, though it's likely that--given Luke's story in the sequel trilogy--her presence in the franchise would have to be altered a good deal. However, there are still lots of setups for Mara Jade's return to Star Wars.
Beilert Valance is a character who could virtually any role a writer places him in. In the past, he's been an academic rival to Han Solo in the Imperial Academy, a freelance bounty hunter, an Imperial soldier, and even a Rebel enforcer.
With how many shoes Valance has been in, it'd be easy to bring a character like Valance into live-action, casting him in a villainous or heroic role, depending on what kind of character is called for.
