Better Call Saul Season 6 Video Brings Everything Back To Breaking Bad

A new video clip invites fans to a Breaking Bad marathon ahead of Better Call Saul season 6. Bob Odenkirk first played shady lawyer Saul Goodman on AMC’s classic drama series about a chemistry-teacher-turned-meth-kingpin. Then after Breaking Bad ended its acclaimed run, AMC launched the spinoff exploring the origins of Goodman aka Jimmy McGill.

Breaking Bad is of course still considered a classic series all these years after it went off the air. But Odenkirk’s turn as McGill/Goodman on the prequel spinoff Better Call Saul has achieved its own measure of critical acclaim and there are some who even argue the off-shoot show is better than the original. Now Better Call Saul is itself set to end its run on AMC, with season 6 promising huge dramatic developments, massive revelations and possibly even tragic events.

But before Better Call Saul season 6 arrives on AMC, the cable network is inviting fans to “fast forward to the beginning” by indulging in a Breaking Bad marathon. The marathon begins today at 4 PM Eastern time as revealed in a video that ties Better Call Saul directly back to the show that spawned the universe in which it lives. This new clip of course begins not with a glimpse of Saul Goodman himself but yet another of Jimmy McGill’s alter egos: Omaha Cinnabon manager Gene Takovic. As fans of the show well-know, Gene is the disguise Jimmy/Saul took on after escaping all the stuff that went down with his one-time client Walter White in Albuquerque during the final episodes of Breaking Bad. Better Call Saul has indeed done a good job of sprinkling hints about Gene throughout the show’s five-season run, setting the audience up for what could be the character’s tragic end. There is in fact a popular fan theory holding that Gene eventually dies at the hands of Walter White himself: a theory that was lent credence when series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould confirmed the Gene scenes take place before White’s own death in the Breaking Bad finale.

Now fans who wish to relive the whole Walter White arc on Breaking Bad can do so via AMC’s upcoming marathon. Indeed it’s hard to imagine a better way to prepare for Better Call Saul season 6 than rewatching all of the show that started it all. Perhaps on this latest rewatch fans will find even more clues that point to how the entire Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul story will ultimately resolve itself. The first half of Better Call Saul season 6 itself arrives on AMC on April 18, 2022.
