Margot Robbie's Barbie Movie Casts X-Men Actress Alexandra Shipp
Warner Brothers' upcoming live-action Barbie movie has officially added X-Men actress Alexandra Shipp to the film’s already impressive roster. Following Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway’s departure from the upcoming film for different reasons, Margot Robbie was cast as the iconic Mattel toy in the live-action film, with Ryan Gosling as her plastic male counterpart, Ken. The upcoming Barbie movie, the plot details of which are still being kept tightly under wraps, will also co-star SNL great Kate McKinnon, Superstore’s America Ferrera, Shang-Chi’s Simu Liu, and Avengers: Infinity War’s Ariana Greenblatt.
Now, X-Men actress Alexandra Shipp has officially joined the stacked cast for the upcoming live-action Barbie film. Like a majority of the elements surrounding this upcoming Warner Bros. project, any details about Shipp’s role are currently being withheld.
Shipp is arguably best known for her portrayal of Storm in the X-Men film franchise, but the actress most recently can be seen in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut film Tick, Tick... Boom!, where she plays Andrew Garfield’s neglected girlfriend, Susan. With a versatile resume as impressive as Shipp’s, it leaves fans to wonder what role she'll take on in the upcoming live-action Barbie movie. Oscar-nominated director Greta Gerwig is behind the upcoming Warner Bros. project, and will also act as the film’s screenwriter along with partner Noah Baumbach. With Shipp’s addition to the already formidably stacked cast, things are looking good for Robbie’s upcoming live-action Barbie world.
