RHOSLC: Jill Zarin Defends Lisa Barlow's Hot Mic Moment

Jill Zarin held nothing back in her defense of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Lisa Barlow, who recently polarized audiences with an explosive hot mic moment. During RHOSLC season 2, Lisa was caught off-camera delivering choice words regarding her fellow cast member, Meredith Marks. Lisa and Meredith previously enjoyed a ten-year friendship.
Jill Zarin made a name for herself as one of the original cast members of The Real Housewives of New York City. She left the hit reality show after season 4. Throughout the years, however, she has made several guest appearances. In season 10, for instance, Jill invited the cameras to film the funeral of her late husband, Bobby Zarin. On the other hand, far away from Manhattan, in snowy Utah, Lisa Barlow has been in the hot seat. For a season that included Jen Shah's arrest and Mary Cosby's cult leader allegations, it seemed difficult to overshadow the high-stakes drama. Then, Lisa delivered an incendiary off-camera tirade about her friend and co-star, Meredith. Some of Lisa's choice words about Meredith included "garbage whore” who "f***ed half of New York." The explosive rant took place during the group trip to Zion, in a room of the vacation home without cameras.
On a recent episode of the podcast Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald, Jill Zarin came to Lisa's defense. Jill, a veteran of The Real Housewives franchise, argued on behalf of Lisa that unless there's a camera in the room, cast members assume their audio will not be featured on the show. Jill claimed that Lisa did nothing wrong because she spoke without cameras in her room. "You know what? Honestly, she's only on the show's second season. And, I mean, I don't know how it is now. I know that when I was on the show, if there was no camera, we were told the audio was off. If you didn't have a camera in front of you, your audio was off," Jill explained. She went on to say, "I would think that if there's no camera on me, I'm not being listened to." According to Jill, Lisa's sentiments against Meredith were probably not justifiable in and of themselves, but the fact that they aired on national television was not on Lisa. "I think [Meredith] should be mad at what [Lisa] said but she can't be mad that it was said publicly," Jill concluded.

Now that the final part of the RHOSLC reunion has aired, it appears that Lisa will remain in damage-control mode. RHOSLC season 3 is already in production and most of the cast members will return, with the exceptions of Mary Cosby and Jennie Nguyen. While Mary decided not to attend the reunion, Jennie was fired after past racist posts resurfaced on social media. On the other hand, Jill Zarin recently participated in the second installment of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which will revolve around former Real Housewives including Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Brandi Glanville, Phaedra Parks, and more. Recently, Vicki revealed that Tamra saved her from choking during the filming of the show. In closing, Jill teased that the highly anticipated series will likely premiere around August.
With cameras already rolling for RHOSLC season 3, it remains to be seen whether Lisa and Meredith will reach a resolution. Perhaps the exits of Jennie, Lisa's friend, and Mary, Meredith's friend, will force both of them to move past their issues and reconcile quicker. Regardless, viewers can still relish in excitement over the upcoming season of RHUGT featuring ex-Housewives, including Jill. If something is clear, it's that when it comes to The Real Housewives, friendship dynamics are always unpredictable.
