Ranking The 8 Gen 9 Pokémon Revealed So Far | ScreenRant
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is set for November of 2022, and a big trailer in June brought the list of revealed Pokémon up to eight. The new additions brought a ton of internet attention, and for good reason.
This new generation is shaping up to be one of the best design-wise in the entire series, with plenty of remarkably cute basic Pokémon and two interesting box art legendaries introduced. The eight potential partners revealed so far are all great designs, but some of them are certainly superior to others. How do all of the currently unveiled mons compare to one another?
8 Pawmi

Pawmi, the Mouse Pokémon, is the newest in a long, long line of Electric rodent Pokémon. Its potential abilities are Static and Natural Cure, and it will likely be an early game encounter.
Pawmi joins a lineage of Pikachu rip-offs that should probably be discontinued, but it is one of the better Pokémon in the archetype. However, actually just giving fans Pikachu early on instead of having replacement Pokémon is ultimately the route that the series should have gone. Pawmi's cuteness is undeniable, it's merely held back by its role in the franchise.
7 Miraidon

Miraidon is the flagship box art legendary for Violet. Almost nothing is known of the legendary other than its design and name. However, it is very likely a Dragon-type.
It's yet to be seen if Miraidon is one of the stronger or weaker Legendaries in the game, but design-wise the Pokémon is lacking compared to its counterpart in Koraidon. Miraidon's strange look has been commented on by many in the community and on social media, and it's certainly the most controversial revelation so far.
6 Quaxly

Quaxly, The Duckling Pokémon, is a Water-Type starter Pokémon with an unknown hidden ability and Torrent as its regular ability.
Quaxly has the potential to be one of the best Water starters in Pokémon. When it comes to starters, the final evolution is usually considered the prized jewel. Only time will tell if Quaxly's final evolution is as fantastic as it has the potential to be, but Quaxly's admiral hat-inspired hair gives it a very interesting base form with lots of room to grow.
5 Smoliv

Smoliv, the Olive Pokémon, is a Grass/Normal Pokémon with a strange ability choice in Early Bird. The Pokémon is likely going to be an early route encounter.
Smoliv has one of the funniest facial expressions in all of Pokémon, a huge boon for its design. The Pokémon has many similarities to previously existing lines. Oddish, Petilil, and Roselia all seem to have similar lines to what fans are expecting out of Smoliv. Only time will tell if the Pokémon will have the same humanoid final stage as the others.
4 Koraidon

Koraidon is the box art legendary of Scarlet and is thematically the "past" counterpart to Miraidon's "future" influences. Like Miraidon, nothing is known about Koraidon's type or abilities.
Koraidon is already looking like one of the coolest Box Art Legendaries in the series, but only time will tell how powerful the Pokémon is. However, the design certainly is fascinating. It clearly has influences in racing, with the tire-like dewlap at the lizard's throat making it reminiscent of many fascinating real-life reptiles.
3 Sprigatito

Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon, is the Grass-type starter for the game. It has an unknown hidden ability and Overgrow as its standard ability.
There have been plenty of cat Pokémon throughout the years, and Sprigatito is arguably the cutest of them all. The legacy of Spritagtito will be decided by its evolutions, and the community has been begging for a quadrupedal cat since Incineroar turned out to be a wrestler. Hopefully, Sprigatito's final form will be just as cute as it is.
2 Lechonk

Lechonk, The Hog Pokémon, is a basic Normal-type with Gluttony or Aroma Veil for abilities. Its key features are being surprisingly fast and muscular despite its appearance.
Lechonk has arguably one of the greatest names in all of Pokémon, the spark plug for much of it becoming an online sensation. Despite the comedic and punny name, Lechonk is both adorable and has the potential to be one of the better early route Pokémon in the series. Aroma Veil is a powerhouse ability in double battles and singles, while Gluttony is solid as well.
1 Fuecoco

Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon, is the Fire-type starter for Scarlet & Violet. It comes with an unknown hidden ability and Blaze for its basic ability.
Fuecoco has the strongest and most creative design in the generation by far. A chili pepper gator is the perfect Fire starter for a region inspired by Spain, and the Pokémon leaves so many creative alleys for evolution. Aside from just creativity, Fuecoco is one of the cutest Pokémon in the games and will be a beloved companion for many.
