Big Brother: Paloma Aguilar Responds To TikTok Comments Following Exit

Paloma Aguilar is speaking out for the first time since exiting Big Brother season 24 for personal reasons. Big Brother has caused controversy this season, with numerous houseguests, including Paloma, being accused of racial biases and microaggressions towards former beauty queen Taylor Hale, an African American woman. Paloma quickly targeted Taylor on a personal level due to her spending time with the male houseguests, and Paloma immediately pitted all of the girls against Taylor. Taylor has avoided elimination despite being nominated twice.
Paloma, a 22-year-old interior designer from San Marcos, California, was extremely popular amongst her fellow houseguests. She formed multiple alliances, but her closest ally was Alyssa Snider, with whom she made a final two pact on the first night. As the first week went on, Paloma's mental health started to deteriorate due to a lack of sleep and high anxiety. Several houseguests expressed concern about Paloma's well-being. On day 8 of the game, the houseguests learned that Paloma had left Big Brother for personal reasons. They reacted very emotionally and wished her well as she went home. Because of Paloma's exit, there was no eviction during the first week, and every houseguest was safe for the week.
Since her departure, Paloma was mostly radio silent, staying off social media and not doing interviews or other press. However, Paloma finally broke her silence by responding to posts about her on TikTok, as shared by @CoraDeLuca on Twitter. One user posted a comment from Paloma, who made a post on her TikTok page highlighting Paloma's change in behavior in the house. Paloma commented, "Just to say--seriously thank you so much for this. I genuinely lost touch with reality because my brain went into overdrive & had a mental break." She talked about her behavior, saying, "Thank you guys! While it was comedic--every joke became a cry for help to get me out of there. Mental health > 750,000."
Paloma also clapped back at that same user who posted about her treatment of Taylor. In response to the user, Paloma said, "Aw, you were nice once upon a time. I hope you can realize this is reality TV and they spin a narrative--take care of yourself girl." Many TikTok users were asking Paloma for clarification about what exactly she was referring to, but Big Brother fans have speculated that she was unhappy with the edit given to her by the show regarding Taylor's treatment.
While it is refreshing to hear from Paloma, given that being in the Big Brother house affected her mental health, her comments regarding the way she treated Taylor are disappointing. For people who watch the Big Brother live feeds, many fans have argued that the producers were actually kind to her on the show in terms of editing, as they didn't show some of the meanest things that Paloma said about Taylor and focused on how popular she was in the house. Hopefully, after some time away from the Big Brother experience to work on her mental health, Paloma can reflect on her behavior on the show.
Big Brother airs Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT and Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
