MCU: 10 Memes That Perfectly Sum Up Sam Wilson As A Character

Fans haven't seen Sam Wilson since The Falcon And The Winter Soldier miniseries, and many are wondering where he'll fit into the next phase of the MCU. Marvel President, Kevin Fiege, has confirmed that the next big threat will present itself soon, and with Captain America 4 in the works with Sam Wilson as the lead, it's only a matter of time before fans see him again (per ScreenRant).

He's been through a lot since his initial introduction as The Falcon, climbing his way from Steve Rogers' friend, to wielding the Captain America mantel himself. Here are some of the best memes to sum up his character.

As briefly mentioned in the introduction, fans have been eagerly awaiting any news of Sam Wilson's return for a while now. The last time viewers saw him was at the end of the Falcon And The Winter Soldier miniseries, where he picked up the Cap shield finally and took over the title.

There are numerous places he could show up in Phase 4, it's just a matter of time before his name is mentioned or he's seen in one of the upcoming projects. However, fans are hoping it's sooner rather than later, they miss the new Cap.

Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson have come a long way since their less than ideal introduction in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Their character development has taken a lot of time, several movies and a miniseries, but the two have even become friends, something that seemed impossible after their first meeting. In a way, there's something symbolic about them bonding over Steve's death, even after his passing Steve was still influencing people. Hopefully, fans can see their friendship blossom further in the new Captain America movie.

Sam Wilson, much like the rest of the Avengers, certainly has an odd fighting style. He often opts for leg kicks instead of punches to take out his enemies, which makes sense for his Falcon suit.

Sam certainly didn't miss leg day, given the strength he has behind his kick. In a fight, Sam would rather kick someone off their feet than punch them, making his entries memorable. No one dares mess with Sam Wilson when he has legs like that to defend himself.

The conclusion of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier saw Sam finally take over the title of Captain America, after much thought and a few (un)helpful comments from Bucky Barnes in the process.

As a result, fans are left confused about what to call him going forward. He'll forever be known as Falcon, seeing as that's how he entered the MCU, but Captain America also has a nice ring to it. Until Captain America 4, it seems fans will be switching between the two.

One of the most iconic scenes in Avengers: Endgame was the portal scene, one that'll certainly go down in movie history. Fans were thrilled when they heard Sam's familiar voice come over Steve's earpiece, uttering the infamous words "On your left."

However, for Doctor Strange to execute this perfectly, there must have been some pretty funny conversations beforehand, including this one imagined by fans where Sam is desperately trying to explain to the Sorcerer the importance of coming in on Steve's left. Thankfully, he seemed to have got the message in the end.

There were two versions of Captain America in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, and it was clear from the start which ones fans preferred. John Walker was the watered-down, government-run version of the iconic superhero, and fans were quick to express their desire to see Wilson take up the shield.

Thankfully, by the end of the miniseries, Sam has taken his rightful place as the new Captain America. Much like the meme suggests, the new Captain America sparks joy, compared to a possibly returning John Walker's version, which did not.

When Sam was first introduced back in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, new fans had no idea he would eventually take over the helm of Captain America. He was known as The Falcon back then, and his character was only just starting in the MCU.

It was serendipity for Sam, his morning jogs around Washington ended up taking him to lengths he could have never imagined. Who would have thought that Sam being outrun by Steve Rogers would end in him becoming an Avenger? Certainly not Sam himself.

There were several moments of cringe and second-hand embarrassment in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, some of which were funny and others that were just plain frustrating. John Walker referring to Sam Wilson as nothing more than Steve's wingman was annoying, to say the least.

Fans have expressed their feelings about this particular scene through this meme, the only person allowed to refer to his friend as a wingman is Sam himself. Which makes sense, given Riley was his actual wingman, as both of them had a Falcon suit. Regardless, John Walker won't be referring to Sam as a wingman anymore.

Sam's suit, as well as his character, has seen plenty of upgrades throughout his time in the MCU. From stolen Falcon suits to make-shift wings, he's finally landed on a suit that works well for him.

Not only is his new suit a reminder of his time as The Falcon, but it also mixes in the familiar designs of Captain America's Star-Spangled Banner Suit. It's the perfect combination of who Sam Wilson was, and who he is going to be, making it the perfect upgrade as this meme suggests.

Unfortunately for Sam, it seems like his days as a solo superhero is behind him. He's previously mentioned having a wingman and partner in fighting before, but after the events of Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, he has a new wingman.

Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson became friends through the events of the miniseries, and it seems like Bucky's not letting Sam go anywhere alone anytime soon. Sam might have lost a friend in Steve Rogers, but he gained one in Bucky.
