Bachelorette: Rachel & Gabby Weren't Pitted Against Each Other

The dual journey to find love on The Bachelorette hasn't been easy so far for Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia, but they're making one thing crystal clear: they were never pitted against each other. When host Jesse Palmer announced at the conclusion of Clayton Echard's season that the pair would share the spotlight as leads, many wondered how this setup would work. Much of Bachelor Nation actually feared that it would destroy the strong bond between Gabby and Rachel, which they formed while navigating shared heartbreak over Clayton. However, they recently revealed this couldn't be further from the case.

So far on The Bachelorette season 19, both Gabby and Rachel have experienced their share of difficult moments. For Gabby, a particular low came when several men, including Hayden Markowitz, went out of their way to tell her they preferred Rachel. In fact, Hayden described Gabby as "rough around the edges." As for Rachel, she had three men decline her rose when she and Gabby transitioned to separate journeys. This left her wondering whether or not anyone was truly there for her, an insecurity that came to a head during Gabby's group date. As her guys watched Gabby's men box, Rachel grew frustrated when no one even glanced in her direction. Though fans flooded social media with comments about her apparent jealousy, she and Gabby are setting the record straight.

In an interview with THR, both stressed that they never felt pitted against each other while filming this historic season of The Bachelorette. Rachel said, "Gabby and I never are fighting, and we never make a decision without one or the other, early in the season. And to hear all the criticism of them pitting us against each other is just not how it was at all," said Rachel. "They really are missing the point of female friendship and us navigating this together and showing our real emotions. Hopefully, moving forward, they can see that a little bit more." Gabby added how grateful she felt to have a "true friend" by her side through it all. Though some of the men got competitive, she and Rachel never did.

Regarding her emotions about Gabby's boxing group date, Rachel said there was more to the story. "What people really don't see was during the date, me and Gabby were fine...I did want a little bit of acknowledgement from them, but overall, this was something I did after, in the privacy of my own room." This is a struggle that Gabby understood and didn't hold against Rachel. "I feel like Rachel and I are doing our best to do what we think is right in the moment and stick together and just really come into our role," said Gabby. "You see us being emotional a lot and doubting ourselves at times, but you have to go through that in order to overcome it."

If Gabby and Rachel's friendship can survive all of that, plus the bombshell that's about to drop with Logan Palmer, it can probably withstand anything. On Monday night's episode, Logan, who accepted Rachel's rose, revealed that he's questioning his decision. Since Rachel was already feeling not-so-great about her group of suitors, it would be heartbreaking to lose one to someone else, especially a close friend. Hopefully, following all of the stress, tears and drama, Bachelor Nation can enjoy its first double engagement celebration.
