Legendary Sega Developer Rieko Kodama Has Died at Age 58

Sega has confirmed that renowned veteran Rieko Kodama died earlier this year after nearly 40 years with the iconic Japanese developer. Kodama, who also went by "Phoenix Rie" in her earlier games, was a longtime Sega member, first joining the Sonic the Hedgehog developer in 1984 as an artist on some of Sega's arcade titles. Kodama became most well-known by Sega fans for her involvement in many of the developer's RPGs like Phantasy Star and Skies of Arcadia. Now, producer Yosuke Okunari has confirmed that Kodama passed away earlier this year.
