Scream 6 Is Grittier And More Visceral Than Scream 5, Say Directors

Scream 6 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet teases that the upcoming film will be much more gritty and visceral than their last film, 2022's Scream. After the late Wes Craven directed the first four films in the beloved horror franchise, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett took the reins for the fifth film. 2022's Scream was met with mostly positive reviews from critics and performed well enough at the box office that a sequel was promptly given the green light. Scream 6 is set to see the return of legacy characters like Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Kirby (Hayden Panettiere), but also more recent additions like Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega), Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), and Chad (Mason Gooding).
