Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Covenant.Guy Ritchie's The Covenant is a harrowing examination of the unshakable bond between Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) and his interpreter Ahmed (Dar Salim) during the War with Afghanistan, solidified with an epic ending that speaks to the extreme sacrifice and dedication of two men from very different walks of life. It begins with Ahmed helping Sgt. Kinley and his men identify the location of an IED factory, but the ensuing firefight with Taliban soldiers cuts them off from aid and forces them into the wilderness where Kinley is gravely wounded. At great risk to himself, Ahmed hauls Kinley over a hundred miles of inhospitable terrain back to base.
