90 Day Fiancé: David & Annie's New Spin-Off News Gets Mixed Reactions

Iconic 90 Day Fiancé couple David Toborowsky and Annie Suwan getting a new spin-off of their own is news that hasn’t made a lot of TLC fans happy. The popular pair of Annie and David made their debut in season 5 after the Kentucky man found his soulmate 8,000 miles away in Thailand. As with the other cast members, Annie and David had a lot of ups and downs, but they clearly emerged as fan-favorites soon after they got their happy ending. However, it wasn't the end of David and Annie’s storyline as they’ve kept returning through shows like 90 Day: Foody Call, Spice It Up, and of course, Pillow Talk. But have the critics had enough with them now getting a spin-off called David & Annie: After the 90 Days?
It’s not just David and Annie who have surprised 90 Day Fiancé viewers with their spin-off story. Also joining them are Loren and Alexei Brovarnik who’ve been together for nine years now and have just had a second baby. While David and Annie aren’t pregnant, they did have “big news” of their own to share. The trailer for David & Annie: After the 90 Days shows the couple going back to Annie’s native village to get two of her teenage relatives to America to live with them. David and Annie introduce viewers to her 14-year-old brother Jordan and 16-year-old cousin Amber, but in the end, Jordan goes missing. It appears that Jordan may not be a fan of leaving his idyllic village life behind and flying to the States.
But even a sobbing Annie couldn’t convince certain 90 Day Fiancé fans that they needed yet another spin-off, especially with couples they seem to be tired of watching over and over again. A Reddit thread in a 90 Day Fiancé sub started by u/Ginger_Soul99 captioned, “Stop with the spinoffs TLC. Boooring!” has comments asking TLC to stop and read the room, and some claiming “I will not be watching this.” Contrastingly, the sneak peek of David and Annie's show shared by 90 Day Fiancé on Instagram features only positive reactions from admirers of the cheery twosome who are simply happy after finding out about their comeback. “FINALLY we get a spinoff of a couple we ACTUALLY like,” reads the top liked comment and most others are echoing the statement, “can’t wait!”
It’s possible that the 90 Day Fiancé community has been so engrossed in David and Annie’s lives through social media anyway that they don’t need a separate show to know what the couple has been doing. Others feel that it’s not a relationship that they’ve been invested in to actually care. A few seem to have disliked David from the start, and believe that the couple may have become likable only because they didn’t have a major spin-off but only featured in short snippets on Pillow Talk, etc.
Plus, the concept of the show itself appears to have been downvoted since it’s too similar to 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? minus the drama, which in reality, is what most viewers crave. However, it’s too soon to judge the outcome of David & Annie: After the 90 Days which might just turn out to be entertaining and unexpectedly wholesome as well. Still, is the format that fans are not excited about, or is it just David and Annie's presence? And would all viewers have applauded the concept if it featured some highly controversial yet lowkey 90 Day Fiancé couples of the past, instead?
